This is one of the few songs by Korn that is easy, and can be played on a 6 string guitar. It is a great cover of the Cameo song 'Word Up'. Nice and heavy. There are actually 3 guitars at play in the song: 2 Rhythm guitars and one lead guitar. This is the main rhythm guitar, and is the easiest one to learn. The only thing is that it is in D tuning, which means tuning each string down by 2 frets to the following:
D tuning: Low D : G : C : F : A : D
Intro - This is only 3 notes, but they are alternate picked fast. If this gives you problems, just pick each note once and hold it. That will still sound fine, and is very easy to do!
Verse - This is nice and easy. It's just 3 powerchords, but you must use muting to stop the strings dead between strikes. Use both hands like we explain in this video and this lesson.
Chorus - This is exactly the same as the verse, except with no muting. The only thing to point out is that the first time round he slides between powerchords a couple of times. You don't have to do that, and the rest of the time he doesn't slide.
Interlude - This is a short, repetitive lick. Although it's quite simple, it is played fast which takes practice. Just get it right very slowly and build up speed from there.
Ending - The last lick to learn is the ending lick. This is just a short descending chord sequence tacked onto the end of the last chorus. Nice and simple stuff!
