This is a great song for those who love to strum and sing. Here we look at the main acoustic guitar. Noel Gallagher recorded it with a capo on Fret 2. We've removed the capo to play it at open position. All the chords are the same, just 2 frets lower.
The song follows a nice chord progression. Keep your 3rd and 4th fingers on fret 3 of the highest 2 strings. As you strum, switch between the chord shapes with your 1st and 2nd fingers. This effectively means that as long as you keep fingers 3 and 4 down on the fretboard, you only need to use 2 fingers to play through the entire song!
There aren't too many chords in the song. And don't worry about being too particular with the strums if you just want to get stuck in. Of course, if you want the fine detail it's here for you to see. Although it's quite a long song, it is made up of only a few simple parts. Here's a breakdown of the chord progressions you'll need:
Intro / Verses:
Em7 - G major - D sus4 - A sus4
Repeat that a LOT, and then add one round of:
C add9 - D sus4 - A sus4
Notice that sometimes fingers are added / removed to include open strings during play. You don't have to do this, it just adds a little variation into the mix.
Bridge:
C add9 - D sus4 - Em7 Play this 3 times, and on the last time instead of staying on the Em7 chord, play the following:
G major - G/F# - Em7 - G major - A7 sus4
Chorus:
C add9 - Em7 - G major - Em7 (repeat)
