This exercise is from the Core Skills section on the Hammer On / Pull Off Combination.
This is another typical use of the Hammer On / Pull Off technique. What happens here is that we only pick the first note, and leave the rest to your fretboard hand. Notice that only one picking dot appears at the start. If you do this right, you should be able to get consistent clean notes - all from your fretboard fingers.
Notice as well that we play one hammer / pull off in the middle of another! After the first hammer on, hammer on again onto the next note, pull off, and pull off again to the note already fretted by your first finger. Confusing eh? Just watch the ActionTab to see what's happening, use the slow feature to help out!
Practice this little sequence of notes until you can get clean notes, and practice at a moderate speed. Practicing too slowly with the hammer on / pull off combination often isn't that effective. That's because the hammer action needs to be done firmly and quickly to get good clean notes.
The note sequence here is:
B - C# - D - C# - Repeat
Remember - you are doing things right if every note is being sounded by your fretboard hand. Your other hand only picks the first note to get the ball rolling!
