This song is great for new guitarists. The backing guitar is particularly friendly. Playing along with these repetitive chords give your fingers plenty of time to learn timing.
The main backing chords are:
A5 twice - G5 - A5 - A5
Mute between these chords. i.e. keep your fingers on the strings, but release pressure from the fretboard. This will stop the strings vibrating, muting the strings. It also means you can keep your fingers in position for the upcoming chords.
This simple chord sequence repeats for the vast majority of the song. There are only a couple of places where it varies slightly:
A5 twice - G5 (don't mute afterwards) - A5
The next set of chords comes just before the solo:
A5 - G5 - A5 - F5 - A5 (repeat twice)
D5 - C5 - A5 - E5 - G5
Then back to the main riff as the solo plays. After that, is this fun little part...
E5 twice - D5 twice - E5 - Mute and then strike that muted E5 chord 8 times before repeating. Last time through end on a G5 chord. Then back to the main riff until the end of the song!
Next we'll look at the lead guitar which, excluding the awesome solo, is also very easy to play!
