Here we look at the lead guitar. If you are into just the rhythm riffs, then check out the Rhythm ActionTab instead. It is considerably easier. However, for lead dabblers there are still some very easy cool licks to learn here. Just look at the last paragraph in this text for quick links!
The Lead guitar plays most of the same riffs as the other rhythm guitar, but it adds supplemental fills and of course, the solo. Here's the Breakdown:
Intro - This is really simple. Hit the Low E5 once and wait a while before joining in with the rhythm guitar. Play the same riff as the rhythm guitar.
Riff 1 - This lead guitar plays 2 long powerchords, before joining in with the other rhythm guitar for this main riff. It's a very short, repeating riff. Slight variations of it are used throughout the song verses. Pick the Low E string as shown and add the powerchords. Repeat after this A5 - G5 sequence.
Riff 2 - This is just a variation of Riff 1. The difference is that regular palm muted downstrokes are used for the Low E string. If you can play Riff 1, this will be easy.
Just repeat Riff 1 and Riff 2 again until the next part of the song arrives...
Riff 3 - Same as the Rhythm Guitar. This is slower than the previous riffs, and not complicated. Repeat 4 times. End on this nice Bb variation.
Riff 4 - Although faster, this is still just a short repetitive lick. It is based around the melody of riff 1, but played quite differently from that riff.
Solo - While the Rhythm guitar plays 'Riff 5' this lead guitar plays the solo. It is quite technical and fast, so not for beginners. He uses the whammy bar a lot, so expect lots of divebombs and weird notes!
Riff 6 - This bridging riff complements the rhythm guitar (which plays a variation of Riff 1).
Finish with a dead stop (mute all the strings) and this little riff. Then simply repeat the whole song again. Occasionally this lead guitar will throw cool little lead licks into the mix. Use the Tablature view to see them. Or use these quick links:
Fill 1 - Fill 2 - Fill 3 - Fill 4 - Fill 5 - Trills (Just fast hammer / pull offs) Outro (just play the intro riff again).
