This is the 2nd guitar for the song. We've already looked at Guitar 1 - played by Dave Murray in this ActionTab. This time we remove Dave's guitar and look solely at Janick Ger's guitar part. Both are similar, but typical of Maiden, the guitarists play different harmonies together and the solos are different. You can hear both guitar parts played together in the Normal Speed Audio (under Tools in the Menu).
Like with Dave's guitar part, the main song sections are not too hard, but the solo is difficult.
The Song is divided into the following parts:
Part 1 - Intro Riff. Notice that this is different to Dave's part. The timing is the same, but the notes are lower.
Part 2 - Switch to a clean guitar sound for this part. Dave does the backing chord picking (just pick through powerchords - very easy stuff). Janick plays this little melody over it.
Part 3 - The fast bit. Played same as Dave's, so nothing new to learn here if you know his part already.
Part 4 - Played the same way as Dave again.
Part 5 - Same as Dave again.
Part 6 - Just do the riffs from Part 3 again, however at the end of that is a new riff for the Interlude. Janick's part is different to Dave's here, he plays a higher harmony.
Part 7 - Janick's solo. It precedes Dave's solo, and is a bit easier than his, but still tricky enough. Dabble if you have the skills.
Part 8 - Janick switches to rhythm here while Dave does his solo.
Part 9 - That nice little harmony. Here we see Janick's part which is different to Dave's.
That is all the main song parts. From that point on just apply them as required. The only other new bit is towards the end of the song, where some muting is used (during the last chorus).
Notice that each of the above parts is really just a straightforward riff (or two) that repeated a few times before moving on to the next song part. So even though the song is quite long, there isn't masses of stuff to learn!
