This is the lead guitar for Subterranean Homesick Blues. Although it follows the easy 3 chord progression played by the Rhythm guitar, it doesn't play exactly the same thing. But don't worry, it's still nice and simple '12 bar blues' stuff.
Intro Lick - If you want to play the intro lick, we show it here. It's a kind of upbeat, bluesy intro - and nice and short. After that, it's just down to the chords...
Main Progression - While the backing guitar strums the A major chord continuously, this lead guitar does something a bit different. Play 2 chords down at the open position, and just keep cycling between them as shown. The chords are A major - D major.
In the mid-section, stay on the D major and return to the A major. Then play the main progression again a couple of times before finishing with the E major - A major tail.
The rest of the song is just more repeats of that main progression. There is the occasional strumming variation, but you don't really need to worry about those if you don't want. Just keep repeating that main progression, and that's all you need for the whole song!
